About The Position

A stable, long-established Metairie office is hiring a Litigation Paralegal to support four to five attorneys handling asbestos defense matters, including cases involving claims administered through the LIGA (Louisiana Insurance Guaranty Association). The work involves substantial calendaring, deposition coordination, database maintenance, and detailed case tracking. With numerous matters moving at once, accuracy and follow-through are essential. Requirements

  • Previous paralegal or substantial litigation-support experience
  • Strong calendaring, deadline management, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and comfort working with large amounts of case information
  • Experience entering, updating, and auditing information in a legal database or case-management system
  • Ability to support multiple attorneys and balance competing priorities
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Reliability, sound judgment, and consistent follow-through
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic document-management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in asbestos defense, toxic tort, mass tort, insurance defense, products liability, or other complex litigation is strongly preferred.
  • Candidates with closely related defense-litigation experience and excellent case-management skills are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Manage litigation calendars, deadlines, depositions, hearings, meetings, and related scheduling for four to five attorneys
  • Enter and continually update deposition, claimant, case-status, and other litigation information in the firm’s database
  • Track upcoming deadlines and ensure attorneys have accurate, current information
  • Coordinate depositions and maintain related schedules, notices, records, and case materials
  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical files for a substantial asbestos defense caseload
  • Review case information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
  • Assist attorneys with correspondence, pleadings, discovery materials, and other litigation documents
  • Communicate with attorneys, opposing counsel, court personnel, vendors, and other parties as needed
  • Follow up on outstanding information and help keep each matter moving forward
  • Provide additional litigation and administrative support as cases require
