About The Position

DLA Piper is seeking an Of Counsel to join its Litigation group, Business and Commercial subgroup. This position is open to multiple office locations including Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, DC, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Short Hills, and Wilmington. The role requires admission to practice in the jurisdiction of application and a minimum of 8 years of experience in M&A post-closing indemnity disputes and/or representations and warranty insurance disputes, along with experience in M&A transaction documentation and damages calculations. The responsibilities include communicating with clients, supervising associates, collaborating with experts, assisting with fact development and depositions, and reviewing/drafting discovery responses, briefs, motions, and memoranda. Developing case strategy is also a key responsibility. Essential job expectations include effective communication, producing quality work product, meeting deadlines, fostering positive work relationships, complying with firm policies, and engaging in both physical and sedentary activities such as computer work and virtual conference calls. Employees are expected to work under pressure, manage competing demands, and uphold firm values.

Requirements

  • Admitted to practice in the jurisdiction in which you are applying
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in M&A post-closing indemnity disputes and/or representations and warranty insurance disputes
  • Experience with M&A transaction documentation and damages calculations
  • Superior research, analytical, and writing skills are highly preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team, are a must.
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize is also required.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail is critical to success.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required
  • Foster positive work relationships
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices
