Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least three (3) years of related work experience
  • Advanced knowledge of docket procedures and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of courts and agencies and their applicable rules
  • Advanced knowledge of pleading processes and filing procedures, especially for California Superior Court
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong knowledge of automated docket systems (Compulaw and/or Milana)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information

Responsibilities

  • Maintain docket diary for attorneys' cases using computerized system which alerts attorneys to deadlines and history of case activity
  • Create, administer, and maintain the policies and procedures related to pleadings and their filing requirements
  • Review, analyze, and interpret pleadings, court orders, notices, and other legal documents to identify and calculate critical deadlines in accordance with applicable court rules, statutes, and local procedures
  • Prepare and distribute department Litigation Docketing calendar
  • Serve as a resource to attorneys, legal assistants, and administrative staff regarding court rules, filing requirements, docketing procedures, and litigation workflows
  • Coordinate communication with courts and agencies
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of docketing policies, procedures, and best practices to promote consistency, accuracy, and compliance across the firm
  • Coordinate and communicate with courts, governmental agencies, and outside vendors regarding filing requirements, case status, and procedural matters.
