About The Position

The UHS Corporate Legal Department is hiring a Litigation Counsel to support general litigation, including affirmative litigation, and government investigations for the UHS Legal Department. The ideal candidate will be someone with a strong commercial litigation background and/or experience in the healthcare industry or with government investigation response. This role has a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days flex-remote. UHS is a dynamic organization driven by its passion for healthcare, and is a leader in acute care and behavioral health, providing high-quality care to over 3 million patients annually across its national network of facilities.

Requirements

• Law degree
• 3 - 5 years' experience in commercial litigation or in the handling of government investigations
• Must be admitted into the state bar or have in-house counsel license

Nice To Haves

• Experience with the healthcare industry or with medical providers preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, trial preparation, and settlement discussions
• Investigate and assess potential class action litigation to be asserted on behalf of the company and work closely with outside counsel in all phases of such litigation
• Respond to government investigations involving state and federal agencies
• Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on litigation risk, dispute resolution, and the impact of litigation on business operations
• Partner with internal teams such as compliance, finance, revenue cycle, operations, insurance, and risk management to develop litigation strategies that align with business objectives
