About The Position

Bosun Solutions is seeking an Illinois-licensed Litigation Attorney to join its growing insurance defense practice in Wheaton, Illinois. The firm represents insurance carriers and their insureds in civil litigation matters throughout Northern Illinois. This in-office role offers meaningful responsibility, hands-on litigation experience, and the opportunity to build a long-term career in a collaborative, close-knit law firm. The attorney will manage an initial caseload of approximately 20–30 civil litigation matters from inception through resolution, with the opportunity to take on additional cases as experience and proficiency grow. The role involves regular appearances in state and federal courts, including the Cook County Daley Center and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The attorney will work independently while collaborating with partners, senior counsel, and the firm's support team. Requirements

Active Illinois Bar license and membership in good standing.
Admission to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Experience managing an active litigation caseload.
Strong legal research, analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle state and federal court appearances professionally and confidently.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Willingness and ability to work in-office in Wheaton, Illinois.
Ability to appear in person at courts throughout the Chicagoland area as required.

Nice To Haves

Approximately 1+ year of insurance defense experience.
Experience with Cook County and surrounding Illinois jurisdictions.
Experience handling pleadings, written discovery, and depositions.
Prior courtroom experience.
Personal injury or other substantive civil litigation experience.
Experience working directly with insurance carriers, claims professionals, or insured clients.
Hands-on experience with discovery, depositions, court appearances, and case management.

Responsibilities

Manage an assigned caseload of approximately 20–30 matters initially, with the opportunity to take on additional cases as experience and proficiency grow.
Handle civil litigation matters involving insurance defense from inception through resolution.
Draft pleadings, motions, proposed orders, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.
Conduct legal research and develop case strategies.
Manage written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
Take and defend depositions.
Review client documents and evaluate claims and defenses.
Prepare case evaluations, status reports, and client correspondence.
Communicate directly with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other litigation participants.
Attend court hearings, status calls, mediations, and pretrial settlement conferences.
Participate in trial preparation and develop courtroom experience.
Manage competing deadlines, billing requirements, and case responsibilities.
Work independently while collaborating with partners, senior counsel, and the firm's support team.
Appear in person at courts throughout the Chicagoland area as required.
