About The Position

Join the legal frontline and put your litigation and investigative skills to work protecting The Allstate Company against insurance fraud. The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for combatting fraud against the insurance industry. In this role, you will utilize your litigation and investigative experience to help defend the company against medical and other types of fraud. The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing affirmative actions, including RICO-based litigation, on behalf of the Company. You will apply your well-developed legal writing skills and negotiate a variety of complex matters within the state of New York. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by pursuing innovative legal strategies and helping protect the Company from fraudulent activity.

Requirements

Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
Federal Court Admission or the ability to seek admission upon selection for this role
4 or more years of experience
Ability to manage and oversee intermediate-level litigation matters.
Legal research and writing skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications
Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality
Demonstrates ethics and integrity
Knowledge of legal holds and discovery processes
A team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues on a daily basis

Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases.
Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other Affirmative Actions.
Develop litigation strategies on legal matters.
Review case files and plan resolutions.
Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs.
Prepare for and conduct Depositions and Examinations Under Oath (EUOs).
Attend arbitrations, mediations, and trials.
Work with expert witnesses in the preparation of, or defense of litigation.
Represent the company in court appearances (conferences, hearings) in State and Federal courts.
Draft pre-trial and post-trial motions.
Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation.
