About The Position

Marks, O’Neill, O’Brien, Doherty & Kelly (“MOODK”) is a mid-sized, regional firm specializing in general liability, professional liability, and toxic tort litigation matters. We have offices located in PA, NJ, NY, DE, and MD. We are currently seeking experienced attorneys to join our team in the Tarrytown, NY office. Requirements

  • At least 7 years of litigation experience (Note: The job description also states '10 + years of litigation experience' and 'This position is open to all experience levels.' The most specific requirement is 10+ years).
  • Current and active NY Bar membership in good standing.
  • Superior written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in LexisNexis/Lexis software.
  • Familiarity with Case/File Management systems.
  • Experience drafting discovery, taking lead on depositions and arguing motions is required.
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills, and comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment.

Nice To Haves

  • The ability to track billable hours is strongly preferred.
  • Strong preference given to those with a background in General Liability or/or Labor and Employment Law.
  • Knowledge of federal and state rules of civil procedures is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in all phases of litigation from initiation to expert discovery in matters involving professional liability or labor and employment.
  • Attend court appearances, hearings, depositions and case management conferences.
  • Conduct complex legal research and discovery investigations.
  • Draft discovery requests and responses, motions, case evaluation summaries, court orders, settlement agreements, affidavits, pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda.
  • Review discovery responses, depositions and prepare summaries and litigation update reports.
  • Negotiate with opposing counsel to settle claims.
  • Communicate closely with clients during the course of litigation to provide legal analysis, status reports and advice.
