About The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 2–5 years of litigation experience who wants to strengthen their courtroom skills, work on sophisticated disputes, and learn from experienced litigators. The practice includes a significant amount of energy litigation, but prior energy experience is not required. The firm is interested in strong litigators who are eager to learn, take on responsibility, and continue developing as courtroom attorneys. The firm is a well-established national law firm with a strong Ohio presence and is looking for a Litigation Associate for its Columbus office.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of litigation experience.
• Experience in commercial, business, complex civil, energy, or another sophisticated litigation practice.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Strong interest in litigation and a willingness to learn new industries and technical areas.

Nice To Haves

• Deposition, hearing, small-claims, or trial experience is beneficial but not required.
• Prior energy litigation experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Work on sophisticated complex litigation matters, including significant energy-related disputes.
• Build courtroom experience while working alongside experienced trial attorneys.
• Gain hands-on responsibility involving case strategy, legal writing, discovery, hearings, and client matters.
• Expand your litigation practice into additional areas based on your interests and the needs of the team.
• Receive mentorship and sponsorship from senior attorneys who are committed to developing younger lawyers.
• Join a growing Columbus team within a nationally recognized law firm.
• Drafting motions, briefs, discovery, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
• Manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities.
