About The Position

This elective course provides an overview of the reading and writing difficulties experienced by students in grades K through 10 who struggle with literacy competence. Teacher Candidates will learn about informal, classroom-based tools used to assess and diagnose reading difficulties. They will also learn various strategies to differentiate instruction within an inclusive teaching-learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education
  • Bachelor of Education and/or K – 12 Teaching Certification
  • K-6 Ontario teaching experience with expertise supporting students with reading disabilities
  • Education as a discipline
  • Reading/Writing Instruction as an area of specialization

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Education
  • Post-secondary teaching experience in Reading/Writing Instruction
  • Leadership/consultant experience focused on supporting students with reading disabilities
