About The Position

The State & Federal Paraeducator works under the direction of the EIS/Literacy Coach, Math Coach, and/or classroom teacher with identified children as required by the program curriculum. The paraeducator keeps accurate records of student activities as required by program guidelines and supports Huron Valley’s State & Federal Program objectives. The position is at Johnson Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year, for 21 hours per week.

Requirements

• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Meet State and Federal Program requirements for Highly Qualified: at minimum, an associate’s degree, 60 hours of college credit, or a successful score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.
• Previous experience working with students who are academically at risk.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff members.
• Ability to work well under the direction of the program coordinator, Literacy and Math Coach, and/or classroom teacher.
• Evidence of initiative and enthusiasm.
• Ability to keep accurate records of student activities as required by program guidelines.
• May be required to take a skills test.
• Ability to speak and write effectively, apply mathematical concepts to practical situations, follow written or oral instructions, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Responsibilities

• Understand program guidelines and support Huron Valley’s State & Federal Program objectives.
• Work with identified children as required by the program curriculum under the direction of the EIS/Literacy Coach, Math Coach, and/or classroom teacher.
• Participate in regularly scheduled professional learning sessions.
• As needed, attend to students whose needs include routine medical procedures or assistance with regular hygiene.
• Keep accurate records of student activities as required by program guidelines.
• Perform other duties as required by the program coordinator, EIS/Literacy or Math Coach, or classroom teacher.
