About The Position

The LIS Tech Specialist works with the laboratory information system technical specialist (LIS TS) II, laboratory information system technical specialist (TS) coordinator, and the supervisor to provide LIS support for the laboratory, including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory file build. This role accurately documents and tracks changes made to laboratory file build using the test implementation process (TIP). The specialist serves as an expert resource for information management (IM) functions to the work unit and completes other projects or assignments as assigned. This vacancy is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS.
  • In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, a bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable.
  • Two years of relevant laboratory experience required.
  • A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
  • Experience with operation and troubleshooting of laboratory processes, assays, databases, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Experience with complex test file build definitions and testing algorithms in the LIS.
  • Experience with the IM test implementation process.
