About The Position

Cornerstone Co-op is seeking a full-time Liquor Supervisor to join their Liquor Team in Vermilion, AB. This role reports to the Liquor Manager and is responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring efficiency, service excellence, and compliance with company policies and provincial regulations. The supervisor will also provide leadership, coaching, and support to Liquor Clerks, foster a positive work environment, and ensure department standards for inventory, ordering, stocking, and displays are met. Key duties include managing product receiving, safe storage, merchandising, opening/closing procedures, supporting brand initiatives, and engaging with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences. The role involves operating the Point-of-Sale system, processing transactions, handling returns, resolving customer issues, managing difficult situations, scheduling staff, providing training and feedback, supporting recruitment, and ensuring adherence to all company, safety, and regulatory policies, including the responsible sale of alcohol and ID verification. The position also requires maintaining checkout operations, ensuring proper store maintenance, housekeeping, and safe working conditions, and demonstrating behaviors aligned with the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, and safety culture. The role requires availability for various shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotational basis, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent retail and/or customer service experience.
  • ProServe certification or willingness to complete it through AGLC after being hired.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and ability to provide a clear 5-year driver’s abstract.
  • Action oriented, customer focused, and works well with other Team Members.
  • Honest, trustworthy, results-oriented, and strives to be the best.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Able to stand and move throughout the shift, including walking, bending, and reaching, while assisting customers, unloading freight, and stocking shelves.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily Liquor Store operations to ensure efficiency and service excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and provincial liquor regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and uphold the Co-op brand experience.
  • Support and act on behalf of the Liquor Store Manager when required.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and coaching to a team of Liquor Clerks.
  • Foster a positive, engaged, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Ensure smooth and efficient daily store operations.
  • Ensure department standards are met for inventory, ordering, stocking, and product displays.
  • Monitor product receiving, safe storage, and merchandising standards.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures.
  • Support brand initiatives and in-store experience improvements.
  • Provide operational oversight in the absence of the Liquor Store Manager.
  • Engage with member-owners and customers to provide outstanding Co-op experiences.
  • Deliver prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service at all times.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale system and process customer transactions.
  • Process returns and adjustments efficiently.
  • Resolve customer issues and answer questions in a professional and timely manner.
  • Manage heightened situations respectfully while maintaining regulatory compliance.
  • Schedule and assign work to meet operational needs.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Support recruitment and team development initiatives.

  • Ensure responsible sale and service of alcohol, including proper ID verification.

  • Follow safety protocols at all times.
  • Demonstrate day-to-day behaviors that align with and strengthen the Co-operative’s vision, mission, values, and safety culture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
