Customer service is a key component, involving answering phones, directing customers, providing product information, and verifying legal purchase age for alcohol and tobacco. Clerks also handle transactions, receive payments, make change, and process various payment methods. Maintaining store cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal is essential. Additional duties include operating equipment such as cash registers, scanners, compactors, and balers, and assisting in other store departments as needed.
