About The Position

Liquor Clerks are responsible for stocking, straightening, and cleaning the liquor store, assisting customers, verifying purchaser age, and processing sales transactions. This role operates within a liquor store that has a separate entrance and gated access. The position requires adherence to merchandising standards, maintaining product levels, rotating stock, and ensuring accurate signage. Responsibilities include using tools like box knives and manual pallet jacks, communicating with management regarding merchandising plans, and writing lists for product restocking. Customer service is a key component, involving answering phones, directing customers, providing product information, and verifying legal purchase age for alcohol and tobacco. Clerks also handle transactions, receive payments, make change, and process various payment methods. Maintaining store cleanliness through sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal is essential. Additional duties include operating equipment such as cash registers, scanners, compactors, and balers, and assisting in other store departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow merchandising standards and practices.
  • Ability to align product, collect and return stray items, and stock to maintain high product levels.

  • Ability to stack product from partial pallets onto full pallets.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and managers to determine merchandising plan and priorities.
  • Ability to write list of products to be brought from steel, by forklift driver, for stocking.
  • Ability to provide prompt and courteous customer service.
  • Ability to answer phones, direct customers to product, and assist customers with product information.
  • Ability to check photo identification to verify legal purchase age for anyone purchasing alcohol or tobacco products.
  • Ability to ring up orders.
  • Ability to receive payment, make change, process checks, credit, EBT, and debit charges.
  • Ability to clean liquor store by sweeping, mopping, spraying, wiping, and dusting.
  • Ability to stock supplies, empty trash, and operate trash compactor and cardboard baler.
  • Ability to operate cash register, hand-held/tabletop scanners, conveyor belt, carts, flatbeds, trash compactor, cardboard baler.
  • Ability to assist in other departments of the store as necessary.
  • Ability to perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
  • Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).
  • Ability to speak and receive phone communications often.
  • Ability to use computer with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment.
  • Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 20 pounds below waist.
  • Frequently lift/carry up to 50 pounds at waist/chest.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves
