About The Position

Versar is seeking a Liquid Fuels Mechanic to support its team on United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Recurring Maintenance and Minor Repair (RMMR) task orders. This role involves performing site maintenance tasks related to fuel systems, including identifying and troubleshooting discrepancies, minor construction, preventative and corrective maintenance, and repair projects. The mechanic will work under the RMMR Site Manager, performing all phases of work, collaborating with subcontractors, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations, and maintaining on-site quality control and safety.

Requirements

  • Two to five years of experience in liquid fuels maintenance or construction on various types of fuel systems that can include marine loading arms, bulk fuel facilities, hot pit fueling systems, gas station dispensing systems, cathodic protection systems, and leak detection systems.
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of tools, including Word and Excel; be capable of uploading daily/weekly field reports with photos to cloud-based information management systems.
  • Ability to use/learn QuickBase, eMaint, MaintainX, Timberland and/or other software programs that manage information and schedules.
  • Experience with equipment operation and power tools.
  • Possess working mechanical and electrical equipment knowledge.
  • Must possess and maintain an active and valid driver's license without restrictions.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of pre-employment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate’s start date.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with internal and external clients.
  • Able to exercise good judgment and conflict resolution strategies with client issues.
  • Can work independently and is self-motivated; works well towards timelines and goals.
  • Has the ability to apply minor mathematical concepts, including fractions, percentages, as they apply to practical situations; can conduct problem-solving.
  • Able to react to changing situations and retain effectiveness.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 and/or HAZWOPER training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance inspections at various U.S. military locations in the continental United States, through anticipation and planning of recurring maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Class I, II and III hydrant systems including other supporting equipment and appurtenances.
  • Maintain fuel storage tanks, including inspection reports of the operations for unusual circumstances to include pressure changes, leaks, corrosion, etc.
  • Support development of scopes of work for repair and modification Service Orders for Department of Defense (DoD) Fuel facilities as part of the USACE RMMR program. Repairs will be developed in accordance with UFC 3-460-01 “Design: Petroleum Facilities,” American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard 650 “Advanced Tank & Construction,” and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS).
  • Diagnose and correct problems using test equipment, statistical, equipment history, manufacture specifications, and industry-related standards to avoid fuel spills or fuel facility related events.
  • Review repair specifications of equipment or components being purchased or fabricated for repair and construction projects, to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and material specifications. Procure material required by repair or maintenance work.
  • Maintain records relating to maintenance. Document and report all activities in a centrally managed maintenance management system.
  • Maintain good working relationship with coworkers and military management personnel utilizing good judgment in recognizing scope of authority. Investigate and adjust customer complaints and concerns regarding fuel systems maintenance.
  • Maintain knowledge of military standards, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs), EM-385-1-1 Safety and Health Requirements Manual, OSHA, EPA, and other industry standards.
  • Adhere to strictly enforced Health and Safety requirements with the highest quality standards expected.
  • Perform all other duties as prescribed by management.
