About The Position

Iron Bow Technologies is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to join their team of Engineers. This role will provide onsite Systems Administrator/Virtualization Storage and Network support for a Federal customer at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in the DC Metro area. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and supporting the development of processes and procedures for the ongoing management of the server environment.

Requirements

  • 5 years’ relevant experience providing system administration support in a virtualized environment.
  • Solid Linux and MS Windows 2008 Server experience.
  • Understanding of VPC environments (Amazon Linux and MS Windows).
  • Experience with Amazon Machine Instances running in EC2.
  • Experience with AWS RDS for MySQL and MS-SQL Server.
  • Experience with Simple Storage Services (S3).
  • Experience with Amazon Glacier Storage for long-term archival storage.
  • Experience with Identity Authentication Management including Windows AD and ADFS.
  • Experience with Google G Suite.
  • Experience with VMware tools.
  • Experience with Windows OS.
  • Experience with Redhat.
  • Experience with SQL 2016.
  • Experience with SolarWinds.
  • Experience with NetApp CloudSync.
  • Experience with multiple OS’s, such as MS, Apple, and Linux.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware, including Dell, HP, VMWare ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Experience with virtual storage devices, such as Cohesity and NetBackup.
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions, tape robots and virtual tape solutions.
  • Experience implementing and troubleshooting VMware vSphere 5.x/6.x, or equivalent.
  • Experience with storage and backup technologies (SAN & NAS).
  • Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
  • Ability to create/update processes and complex diagrams using Lucidchart, or a comparable tool.
  • Technical knowledge of and experience with load balancing, clustering, and caching procedures and processes.
  • Technical knowledge of and experience with Network components and topologies.
  • Experience working as part of a Team of professionals supporting a federal contract.
  • Experience engaging directly with federal customers.
  • Understanding of the value and benefit of SLA targets and ability to demonstrate drive to meet these targets.
  • Interest in the networking side to assist Network Engineers as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of JAMF Pro features such as Zero Touch Deployments, App Management, Extensive Inventory, Security Controls, and Self-Service App Catalog.
  • JAMF 200 and/or JAMF 300 certification(s).
  • Experience with client/server AV software applications.
  • General Knowledge of VoIP and Video over IP.
  • Knowledge of Tenable Security Center.
  • Knowledge of Citrix VDI.
  • Experience with AWS.
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Science, or other relevant discipline (additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).

Responsibilities

  • Provide monitoring, backup, restore, recovery, and tape library maintenance and operations of the virtual server environment across multiple locations using VMWare and vCenter.
  • Ensure backup, redundancy, and availability of the virtualized server environment consisting of 200 Windows and Linux servers.
  • Participate in internal Engineering Team and customer meetings, engaging with senior team members to gain insight into the customer’s environment.
  • Participate in Customer Change Boards and share details regarding progress and impediments of assigned tasks.
  • Support approved and assigned configuration/operational change tasks tracked in the ITSM and keep progress details updated.
  • Adapt to changing priorities, report on progress, identify impediments, and remain focused on committed timelines.
  • Provide coordinated 24x7 on-call support on a rotating basis (1 week per month).
  • Support quarterly baseline image updates by maintaining the updated Gold Image using MS MDT.
  • Monitor databases for server/server resource issues and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly checks are completed, following internal operating procedures.
  • Recommend and execute approved modifications to the server environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Configure and deploy new client hardware/software applications.
  • Support planned and approved patch pushes to the Dev and Prod environments.
  • Participate in research of server hardware, software, and protocols to support customer procurement and development efforts.
  • Provide input for incident responses and root cause analysis for major incidents.
  • Manage enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure.
  • Maintain inter-/intra-site replication between storage components for redundancy and disaster recovery contingencies.
  • Identify and submit Knowledge Base articles, conduct periodic reviews of existing articles for accuracy, and support the development/update of technical support documentation.
  • Ensure work aligns with Iron Bow policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
