About The Position

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Linux Administrator for its Technology team supporting the Distributed Training Operations Center (DTOC). The position administers and maintains Linux-based systems supporting Distributed Mission Operations, cybersecurity compliance, mission networks, and functions critical to Air National Guard training and readiness. The work helps ensure secure, reliable, and efficient system operations in mission-critical environments by maintaining system integrity, safeguarding sensitive information, and enabling live and distributed training events. The role supports Linux systems and applications, modeling and simulation tools, DTOC and OTTI technologies, and cybersecurity monitoring. It includes system installation and configuration, security hardening, patching, troubleshooting, backup and recovery, basic storage management, and operational documentation. The role requires an active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to upgrade to Top Secret, U.S. citizenship, an IAT Level II certification, and the ability to obtain a listed Linux certification before starting.

Requirements

2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 6 years of relevant experience with a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience with Linux system administration in a DoD or security-focused environment.
Ability to apply STIGs and implement cybersecurity controls across Linux systems.
Familiarity with basic virtualization technologies such as VMware, virtual machines, and LAN environments.
Ability to update and patch Linux and Windows systems, including offline environments.
Ability to perform basic network analysis and troubleshooting using tools such as Wireshark.
Working knowledge of Bash or PowerShell scripting for automation and system tasks.
Active DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to Top Secret.
U.S. citizenship.
IAT Level II certification, such as Security+.
Ability to obtain a CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, or LPIC-1 certification before starting.

Nice To Haves

CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, LPIC-1, or related certification.
Virtualization certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
Experience supporting DoD or Air National Guard mission systems.
Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture and modern cybersecurity frameworks.
Experience with automation/configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
Experience with enterprise storage solutions and/or backup management for Linux environments.
Experience analyzing DIS/HLA traffic or modeling and simulation environments.
DISA ACAS training/certification.
Active Top Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

Maintain and administer Linux-based mission systems and multi-user environments, coordinating with network administrators as needed.
Support installation, configuration, and routine operation of Linux servers, workstations, and peripherals.
Execute backup, recovery, and basic storage management tasks to support continuity of operations.
Configure and harden Linux systems in accordance with STIGs, JSIG, and DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Respond to system outages, performance issues, and troubleshooting requests in a timely manner.
Participate in team efforts to integrate and support DTOC and OTTI technologies.
Provide support for Linux-based applications and modeling and simulation tools.
Support cybersecurity monitoring tools such as HBSS and SIEM solutions.
Implement OS-level patches, security updates, and software releases for Linux systems, and Windows when required.
Document system configurations, procedures, and long-term operational needs.
