This position is responsible for performing duties required in the operation, maintenance, construction and repair of transmission and distribution systems. The Lineworker Apprentice 3 will demonstrate mastery and continue duties of Apprentice 1 and Apprentice 2, construct and maintain overhead and underground electric lines and equipment, and work lines and equipment energized with higher voltage only after successful completion of Apprentice 2, hot line training, and supervisor/manager approval. The role involves inspecting existing primary and secondary power lines and substation equipment, correcting and reporting problems, maintaining and operating vehicles and equipment, investigating trouble on lines and locating causes of power outages, and performing maintenance and servicing of tools and equipment. Additionally, the position requires performing rubber glove work on energized lines from an aerial device, working on de-energized or grounded lines or equipment, performing more complex duties of a Lineman under general supervision, and participating in scheduled training. The apprentice must demonstrate diligence in learning and adhering to safety regulations, collect delinquent accounts, be available for call-out duty, maintain the security of confidential information, stay abreast of technological advances, and demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. This role may also involve directing the work of others in emergency situations and facilitating meetings or speaking in front of large groups.
