Linen Distributor - NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital P/T Temp 20 hrs per week, Friday 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Saturday 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Sunday 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
About The Position
The Linen Distributor delivers clean linen and scrubs to distribution points throughout NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. The role inspects linen closets, maintains appropriate par levels, replenishes scrub machines, consolidates linen trucks, stores linen in the clean linen room, and prepares exchange carts for upcoming shifts. The position is part-time and temporary, scheduled for 20 hours per week: Friday from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Saturday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The successful candidate follows infection-control procedures when delivering linen to sterile locations, helps keep linen areas secure, and performs other duties as assigned. The role also requires reliable attendance, adherence to time-off and Employee Health requirements, and a professional appearance with an identification badge worn at all times while at the Medical Center.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, speak, and write in English and follow written and oral instructions in English.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma, GED, or experience in a related field.
Responsibilities
- Set up morning linen carts and deliver clean linen to distribution points throughout the hospital.
- Ensure the correct linen par is delivered to each unit and periodically check linen quality.
- Remove excessive plastic liners from linen closets.
- Organize bulk linen trucks, consolidate like linen items, and store linen in the clean linen room.
- Prepare exchange carts for the following shift.
- Replenish scrub machines and collect soiled scrubs from machines.
- Ensure soiled linen, clean linen, and uniform shop areas are closed and locked at all times.
- Perform supplemental linen deliveries as required.
- Follow proper infection-control measures when delivering linen to sterile locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality and follow departmental time-off notification guidelines.
- Meet Employee Health requirements, including annual health assessment, TB screening, and proof of required immunizations.
- Maintain a professional appearance and wear an identification badge at all times while at the Medical Center.
