About The Position

Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking a Journeyman Lineman for the Deer Valley Cable Replacement project. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Completed a Registered Journeyman Lineman Apprenticeship Program or an equivalent training program (as approved by APS T&D Technical & Safety Training).
  • One year of experience as a Journeyman Lineman.
  • Commercial Driver’s License (Class “A”) with the ability to meet all DOT requirements.
  • Must have at least a Class A CDL permit at the time of application.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • If applying with a CDL Permit, a valid Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained prior to the official transfer/start date.
  • If applying with an out-of-state CDL, a valid Arizona Class A CDL license (with no mechanical restrictions (i.e., airbrakes)) must be obtained within 30 days of the official transfer/start date.
  • Must live within a reasonable distance of headquarters (one (1) hour).
  • Must pass written and hands-on exam and successfully demonstrate climbing skills.
  • Must be a U.S. person (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee) if the position requires access to information subject to U.S. Export Control Laws.
  • Must be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Travel reimbursement may be available for out-of-state candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Work on all types of distribution lines, including 4kv to 21kv.
  • Operate and maintain all related equipment.
  • Successfully demonstrate climbing skills.
  • Pass written and hands-on exams.
  • Work with aerial equipment with weight restrictions of 300 pounds or less.
  • Obtain and maintain Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) access.
  • Undergo a full seven (7) year criminal history background check for CIP access.
  • Undergo an additional background check every seven years to maintain CIP access.
