About The Position
The apprentice lineman, under direct supervision, performs new construction and maintenance work on overhead and underground distribution and transmission lines under the direct supervision of qualified foremen and journeymen.
Requirements
- 2 year minimum of recent field experience or Coursework in Powerline trade
- Safety-minded and follow safety regulations
- Valid Driver’s License
- Willing to submit to pre-employment, random and for-cause drug testing
Nice To Haves
- Commercial Driver’s License is preferred
- Reliable transportation to travel when necessary
Responsibilities
- Work safely in new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized overhead work.
- Install overhead wire, set poles and anchors, install transformers, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches and switchgear.
- Troubleshoot primary and secondary systems, replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
- Safely install and remove mechanical jumpers, understanding how to obtain a one shot on a re-closer.
- Climb different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and possess the necessary tools to do so.
