About The Position

The Fiber Communications Lineman Apprentice is an entry-to-developing field position assisting a crew with the safe installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial and underground fiber optic systems. Working under the direct supervision of the Foreman and journey-level linemen, the Apprentice develops trade skills through ground support, climbing and bucket work, equipment operation, and basic fiber construction tasks. The role is designed to build the technical skills, safety habits, and field knowledge needed to advance to Lineman and beyond. Work takes place primarily outdoors on active construction sites and roadways, in varying weather and around traffic, energized utility environments, and construction hazards. The role may involve work at heights up to 35 feet and in confined spaces such as manholes and handholes. Travel within the Southeast may be required, including overnight stays for storm response or out-of-area projects. Dynetek supports development through hands-on training, mentorship, structured apprenticeship requirements, paid training, certification support, and performance milestones. Successful apprentices may progress to Lineman, Senior Lineman, and Foreman.
