About The Position

The Transmission Apprentice Lineman assists Transmission Journeyman Linemen and the Foreman while training and learning the trade. The role performs varied work related to constructing and maintaining poles, power lines, auxiliary facilities, and equipment for electricity distribution. The apprentice is expected to model and teach safe practices to newer apprentices, support the Line team, and work with other department personnel. The position works in a field environment and involves physically active work, including strenuous tasks and exposure to inclement weather. Requirements

Valid and current state Driver’s License.
Valid Class A CDL.
High school diploma or equivalent.
0–4 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

Assist Transmission Journeyman Linemen and the Foreman while training and learning the trade.
Perform transmission structure replacements, wire pulling, and new line builds.
Perform construction, maintenance, or repair work on transmission lines.
Install and maintain wood poles and steel towers of all heights, including setting, framing, and installing hardware and related materials.
Operate and maintain vehicles and specialized equipment used in the electric utility industry.
Safely identify primary and secondary voltage on a circuit and demonstrate familiarity with induced voltage.
Set a good example for newer apprentices by following and teaching safe practices.
Support the Line team and work with other department personnel.
