This position is responsible for continuing the flow of finished product from the retorts and/or hydro to the packing area. The role involves verifying machine setup, reviewing the production schedule, and bringing full retort baskets for unloading. The Line Unloader will inspect finished product for quality issues such as image, odor, color, and chunks, and identify any sticking to the can. They will also pull sample products for the lab and supervisors, identify hold tags and change-overs, and remove defected products (dented, leaking, or with illegible codes) from the system. Communication with the Retort Operator, Tray Packers, and supervisors is essential, as is ensuring baskets cycle to the loader and verifying the condition of suction cups. The role also includes performing weekly sanitation and completing all required paperwork. Additionally, the Line Unloader participates as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. They are expected to be familiar with Simmons’ operating systems and their role in supporting them, communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
