Requirements

Associate degree in electric power or equivalent preferred.
Minimum of 5+ years of T&D Operations experience required.
Must possess strong understanding of the electrical system, NEC codes and company distribution standards.
Previous experience in preparing and manage capital and O/M budgets.
Experience using Microsoft office products required, with ability to learn and apply other software programs.
Position requires strong leadership and organizational skills.
Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Must be capable of effectively managing through multiple priorities.
Position requires the successful applicant to reside within a 25-mile radius of the respective divisional headquarters.
Position requires valid Maine Driver’s License CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

Provides and demonstrates leadership with and among the Line and Meter Operations management team.
Identifying opportunities and advocating for continuous improvement in Safety, Operations, and employee engagement, development, and productivity.
Remaining knowledgeable about all Company policies.
Regularly communicates with Line and Meter Operations Manager regarding employee issues, needs, and concerns, staffing issues, equipment needs, and other matters necessary for efficient Division operations.
Provides and demonstrates leadership in the supervision of day-to-day operations of the line and meter functions.
Maintaining a high degree of professional conduct.
Communicating fully and effectively (including providing feedback and coaching) with employees on incidents and accidents, near misses, environmental issues, work procedures, and any other issues and conditions impacting Division employees.
Identifying employees' strengths and gaps, along with developmental opportunities to develop strengths and bridge gaps.
Motivating employees to accept change and to support Company initiatives.
Applying conflict resolution techniques to optimize interpersonal relations on the job.
Promotes a supportive work environment and hosts meaningful safety and staff meetings.
Assures all employees under his/her direction are properly trained in order to perform jobs safely and efficiently.
Remaining knowledgeable about the IBEW Local 1837 union contract. Enforce contract requirements and identify non-compliance and participate in the resolution of union grievances.
Assigns daily work to line and meter crews in accordance with designated work priorities.
Reviews the quality and quantity of the work performed by line crews and meter staff.
Assures line and meter employees comply with established Company work rules, procedures and regulations, i.e., safety, environmental, HR, and recommends and administers corrective action as appropriate.
Develops and maintains sound working relationships with other departments and external contractors in order to coordinate work involving crews external to the division line and meter functions, i.e., Power System Technical, System Operations, Central Dispatch, Fleet, Stockroom, and Safety, amongst others as necessary.
Promotes excellence in customer service, including assures timely response to customer service problems (outages, service requests, voltage problems, and damage claims).
Completes, in a timely manner, all necessary paperwork associated with daily job duties and responsibilities, i.e., daily crew logs, timecard approval, facility/environmental inspections, accident/incident investigations, safety job observation reports, damage claims, work-package closeouts, inventory controls, budget variances, etc.).
Supervises and coordinates companywide and/or divisional storm restoration activities.
Works in accordance with the documented environmental procedures, instructions, and specific responsibilities as defined in individual procedures and instructions. Reports problems or deviations associated with environmental issues and the Environmental Management System (EMS) to the Environmental Department.
Regularly hosts and facilitates safety and staff meetings.
Participate, with others, on a weekly supervisory call duty rotation.
May fill in for absent division Line Supervisors.
Performs other related duties as assigned, including designated duties associated with System Restoration.
