About The Position

In collaboration with the VP of Operations, the Line Superintendent provides strategic leadership and oversight of all operations functions to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of electric service. This role leads personnel, contractor performance, and system reliability efforts while ensuring compliance with TCEC standards, safety requirements, and regulatory obligations. The position involves internal collaboration with Operations, Engineering, and System Operations to align priorities, execute work, and ensure safe and reliable system performance. It also includes developing and holding teams accountable for results, safety, and performance. Externally, the Line Superintendent oversees contractors and external partners to ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality work, and supports positive member relations through reliable service and issue resolution.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of experience in electric utility construction and maintenance.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Texas Driver's License or obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Demonstrated experience leading electric distribution construction, maintenance, and outage response.
  • Background includes line operations, switching, troubleshooting, contractor coordination, and safe execution of field activities.
  • Experience overseeing crews, managing work execution, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey technical information, particularly during outages, switching, and field operations.
  • Proven leadership ability to develop teams, set expectations, and drive accountability.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Technical proficiency in electric distribution systems, equipment operation, and field practices.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office, mapping platforms, and work management software.

Responsibilities

  • Provides overall leadership of operations to ensure alignment with organizational goals and system reliability.
  • Leads, develops, and holds operations personnel accountable for performance and safety.
  • Ensures safe, reliable construction, maintenance, and inspection of the distribution system.
  • Oversees contractor performance, work quality, and invoice accuracy.
  • Establishes priorities, work plans, and schedules to meet operational needs.
  • Coordinates with Engineering and System Operations to execute projects and maintenance activities.
  • Monitors performance metrics and drives continuous improvement.
  • Identifies and resolves operational risks, hazards, and system issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
