About The Position

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Superintendent to join our team in the Carolinas division in Raleigh. The ideal candidate will be a proven field leader with strong communication and coordination skills, responsible for managing all day-to-day construction activities on-site. The Superintendent leads subcontractors, enforces safety and quality standards, maintains the project schedule, and ensures all work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, and company policies. This role plays a critical part in achieving project goals through proactive planning, problem-solving, and collaboration, while upholding Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm® safety culture and commitment to excellence. While this is intended to be a long-term career opportunity with continued advancement and future project assignments, the successful candidate will initially lead field operations for the ongoing Wake Early College of Information and Biotechnologies (WECIB) High School project for the Wake County Public School System. In this role, you will oversee all day-to-day on-site construction activities, including subcontractor management, safety and quality performance, schedule execution, site logistics, and project planning while partnering closely with the Project Manager to successfully deliver a project valued between $100 million and $125 million.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
8+ years of commercial construction field leadership experience.
Strong understanding of structural, MEP, and architectural coordination.
Proven ability to manage site operations, safety, and schedules.
Excellent communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
Proficiency with construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Experience managing ground-up, renovation, or adaptive reuse projects.
Demonstrated success leading diverse subcontractor teams.
OSHA 30 certification and advanced safety training.

Responsibilities

Manage all field operations and daily site activities; supervise subcontractors, foremen, and field staff to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-driven performance.
Establish and lead the site safety team; develop project-specific safety plans, conduct hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
Develop and maintain project schedules in collaboration with the Project Manager; lead pull planning sessions, identify milestones, and track progress against critical path.
Implement and oversee the project’s Quality Control program; ensure materials, workmanship, and testing comply with contract specifications and standards.
Review drawings, specifications, and budgets for constructability; provide input to estimating teams and preconstruction schedules.
Monitor labor, equipment, and general conditions budgets; approve subcontractor payment applications and verify cost accuracy.
Lead weekly coordination meetings, ensure accountability for schedules and performance, and oversee subcontractor orientations and compliance.
Develop and maintain site logistics and temporary facilities plans, including hoisting, access control, and site security.
Conduct progress and safety meetings, maintain daily reports, and provide clear communication to all project stakeholders.
Ensure timely completion of punch lists, commissioning activities, and project documentation; manage site demobilization and final inspections.
