About The Position

The Junior Foam Line Operator / Technician is responsible for supporting daily foam production operations, including chemical preparation, line setup, equipment cleaning, and basic troubleshooting. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with chemicals and mechanical equipment, and the ability to follow established formulas and safety procedures. The operator will work under the guidance of senior technicians to ensure smooth, efficient, and safe production runs.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs independently.
  • Able to crawl beneath conveyors as needed.
  • Good manual dexterity for intricate mechanical work.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • College education preferred (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields) or related technical experience.
  • Ability to operate industrial scales.
  • Understanding of chemical labeling systems (GHS).
  • Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety in chemical-handling environments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and mix chemical formulations according to the daily production recipe.
  • Accurately measure and dispense materials using industrial scales.
  • Track, document, and report all chemical quantities used throughout the shift.
  • Replace empty chemical drums and safely connect new drums to the system.
  • Fill tanks/pots with additives and other chemicals to required operational levels.
  • Verify blend completeness before production begins.
  • Assemble and prepare the foam head and related line components.
  • Remove parts from chemical baths, clean, and reinstall as needed.
  • Configure the line for correct foam density settings.
  • Conduct pre-run safety checks and inspections.
  • Report equipment abnormalities or issues.
  • Monitor production conditions and communicate deviations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Assist senior operators with adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Clean equipment and production areas after each run.
  • Perform tasks efficiently to avoid redundant cleaning.
  • Prepare materials and chemical premixes for the next day.
  • Dispose of waste in compliance with guidelines.
  • Unload polyol and other bulk chemicals.
  • Perform advanced line adjustments and density control.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
