About The Position

The Line Operator will promote a safe working environment by understanding and adhering to all Silgan Safety Policies and Procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. This role ensures machines are functioning safely in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards, and involves understanding bottle quality requirements and documenting them. The operator is responsible for sustaining efficiency and scrap on production machines to meet company goals, and must be able to effectively communicate machine, process, and quality-related issues. The position requires the ability to logically troubleshoot tasks, make minor mechanical repairs, and perform daily housekeeping tasks. A teamwork atmosphere is promoted by assisting in housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, and performing rework. Master cleaning tasks may be necessary, and compliance with supervisor directions is required. The role also involves assisting in equipment troubleshooting and completing quality inspections recorded in WinSPC software.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and communicate orally.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Good mechanical skills and use of hand tools to perform basic repairs.
  • Ability to enter machinery safely and unhindered by physical restriction.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Visual Inspections on product.
  • Willingness to work 12 hours on either day or night shifts, weekends, and overtime.
  • Ability to lift 35 Lbs.
  • Have good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Ability to operate PITs (Powered Industrial Trucks).
  • GED

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma
  • 6 months as a machine operator.
  • Experience as a blow molding operator.
  • 1 year Experience in Manufacturing.
  • Manufacturing experience, extrusion molding is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose problems and logically troubleshoot tasks.
  • Make minor mechanical repairs to machines.
  • Perform daily housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist in housekeeping, organizing, packing, transporting corrugated, erecting corrugated, and performing rework.
  • Perform master cleaning tasks when necessary.
  • Comply with directions from supervisors and managers.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of equipment.
  • Complete quality inspections and record them in WinSPC software.
  • Perform mechanical and process-related troubleshooting on machines and equipment.
  • Follow GDP, Safety, and PPE Guidelines.
  • Lift 35lb. bags of resin/concentrate.
  • Climb ladders and stand on feet for the entirety of the shift.
  • Operate PITs (Powered Industrial Trucks).
