About The Position

This is a Fully Qualified Line Mechanic opening in East Springfield, MA. The position requires the ability to perform work assignments at the Line Mechanic level, including transmission work, emergency work, and planned overtime. The selected candidate will acquire a basic knowledge of the Company Safety Manual, possess the mechanical ability to use hand/power tools and equipment pertinent to line construction and maintenance, and have the ability to climb and work on poles, ladders, and other elevated structures. The position will require working both indoors and outdoors, and at times under adverse weather conditions. Selected candidates must meet the physical requirements as required by medical placement examination(s). This is a Union position and qualified Local 455 WMECO employees will be given first consideration. Responding to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs is part of every employee’s role. If employed, you will be given an Emergency Restoration assignment. This means you may be called to assist during an emergency outside of your normal responsibilities, work hours and location.

Requirements

At least one year of experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Pass the CAST test
Possess a valid driver's license
Obtain/maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Meet the physical requirements as required by medical placement examination(s)
