About The Position

The Packaging & Forming Line Mechanic is responsible for supporting production operations by maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving equipment reliability and performance. This hands-on role supports forming, wrapping, and cartoning equipment and works closely with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to maximize uptime, efficiency, safety, and product quality. Line Mechanic serves as the equipment expert and primary resource for keeping production lines operating effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial equipment experience.
  • Experience with packaging, cartoning, flow wrapping, or forming equipment.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Takes ownership of equipment performance and reliability.
  • Enjoys troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses maintenance needs.
  • Works effectively with operators, supervisors, and maintenance team members.
  • Demonstrates a desire to become the equipment expert for the Formax, Fuji, and Dimension production lines.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to equipment issues to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, and operational equipment problems.
  • Perform machine adjustments and repairs.
  • Support production startups and product changeovers.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Identify and address potential equipment issues before they result in downtime.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Create, update, and close work orders within the CMMS system.
  • Document repairs, labor, parts usage, and equipment adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records to support reliability and inventory management efforts.
  • Collaborate with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to improve equipment performance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining best practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist operators with machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Train employees on proper equipment operation and care.
  • Promote and model safe work practices and food safety standards.
