Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with zero to two (0-2) years of relevant line locating or pipeline-related experience, including the ability to read legal land descriptions; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of pipeline rights-of-way, landowner contracts, and basic pipeline construction, maintenance, and operations.
  • Ability to independently assess third-party contractor compliance and determine authorization to continue construction.
  • Proven ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in field documentation and compliance reporting.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • English language fluency, verbal and written.
  • Acceptable results of a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, review, and process daily locate requests in accordance with one-call system requirements.
  • Reference legal land descriptions to accurately determine pipeline and utility locations.
  • Monitor third-party construction crews to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company standards.
  • Visually inspect exposed pipe sections during construction to verify proper handling and protection.
  • Maintain marker posts, flags, and other field identification in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with requirements set forth by applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Attend industry training to stay current on new technologies and best practices in utility locating.
  • Educate contractors, landowners, and the public on the importance of utility location services and pipeline safety.
