SUMMARY: Responsible for moving raw materials from the storage areas / materials supermarkets and components from the production areas to the work areas.

Requirements

Walking the entire shift
Good shoulder strength to pull materials from racks and bins
Ability to learn many different types of materials by sight, using the code as a backup
Ability to interact and respond professionally to co-worker’s requests

Nice To Haves

Second person assistance is available for king and queen size base units.

Responsibilities

Performs a combination of tasks in order to distribute materials to the rest of the work force as needed in a timely fashion.
Reads material placement plan and production schedule to plan the production for the day and to assure accurate delivery of mattress materials to the rest of the team.
Lifts and carries materials from trains to 20” high mattress assembly line.
Sorts and places materials on the mattress assembly line according to predetermined sequence, such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
Gathers materials by pushing a cart up and down the aisle to “pull” the material needed for the build process.
Learns the many different types of materials by sight, using the code as a backup.
Cleans and maintains the unit build and mattress build material loading and storage areas while recycling all cardboard and plastic.
Records number of materials that are damaged or substituted.
Interacts and responds professionally to co-worker’s requests.
Performs housekeeping in assigned area/places all scrap material in baler.
Safe operation of the baler is important.
