About The Position

This position is responsible for hanging all incoming saddles and leg quarters on shackles manually by hand. The role involves picking up saddles from a moving belt and hanging them on shackles at the speed of the production line. The individual will participate as a member of the team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. This includes coordinating work for best practices, attending team meetings, fostering cohesiveness, and taking responsibility for identifying and resolving areas of concern. The position also requires familiarity with Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems, as well as communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Other duties may be performed in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Occasional bending at the neck and waist, reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
  • Constant standing, simple and power grasping of the hands, fine manipulation/feeling with the hands, repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands, light lifting (up to 7 pounds), use of vision.
  • Inside line work around loud equipment/machines; walking around drains, footbaths, hoses; wet environment, occasional dust.
  • Use of earplugs, gloves, hairnet/beardnet, sanitizeable footwear, apron, face mask.

Responsibilities

  • Hang all incoming saddles and leg quarters on shackles manually by hand.
  • Pickup saddles from moving belt.
  • Hang saddles and leg quarters on shackles, keeping them full.
  • Hang at a speed of the production line.
  • Participates as a member of the Team.
  • Participates in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
