Line Lead - Packaging
About The Position
Stoltzfus Quality Meats (SQM), now under the management of John F. Martin & Sons, is entering an exciting new chapter of growth and is looking for dedicated individuals to join their team. SQM is currently hiring a Line Lead for their packaging department. This is a FIRST SHIFT position with hours from 5:30 am to 2:30 pm, with some mandatory overtime. The Line Leader will assist the supervisor of the Packaging Department in overseeing the production team's activities, providing input on employee counseling and performance evaluations, and ensuring smooth and efficient day-to-day production. The primary responsibility is to ensure the staff meets their production, quality, and safety goals. In the department supervisor's absence, the leader will assume their duties.
Requirements
- Experience in a similar role.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
- Ability to use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Understand all aspects of company recipes.
- Ability to effectively present information in both one-on-one and small group situations to management and other team members of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems.

Responsibilities
- Assist the supervisor on all operational & safety-related functions of company equipment & machinery.
- Ensure that the staff meets their production, quality, and safety goals.
- Assume supervisor duties in the department supervisor's absence.
- Operate machinery & plan staff scheduling/rotation/tasks.
- Report plant machinery breakdowns to maintenance technicians.
- Report to management staff on safety, quality, productivity, and attendance issues from employees.
- Engage and motivate the production team while setting a professional example.
- Work/train employees in a fast-paced refrigerated environment.
