About The Position

Operates an Industrial sized forklift to receive and transfer product, supplies, and materials from various departments to storage areas while meeting customer regulations and specifications. The operator is responsible for storing and retrieving goods in the storage area of the workplace, rotating stock so oldest materials are used first, and noting and reporting any damaged cartons, crates, or containers. They will record items added or removed from inventory, store product using an industrial forklift, and use a handheld scan gun/RFGEN for lot tracking to maintain accurate inventory. Working from written or verbal instructions, the operator will use a forklift to pick up, move, load, and unload product on or from trailers while meeting department, facility, company, and regulatory guidelines. This role also involves performing minor service of equipment, completing written daily safety inspections, and identifying and reporting noted problems to the supervisor for further inspection and repair. Responsibilities include changing fuel bottles, refueling forklifts, or troubleshooting repairs as needed, and maintaining the work area, dock, and equipment in a clean and orderly condition, adhering to storage design principles, and recommending improvements. The operator will create product labels for inventory purposes, read and understand lot numbers, expiration dates, ingredient lists, and production schedules, and complete various reports daily, entering required information into the computer program efficiently and timely. They will use basic tools such as wrenches, tape measures, scales, air and water hoses, and consolidate partial pallets as directed by the production supervisor. Operators must be able to maneuver forklifts in tight spaces while maintaining a safe work zone for other drivers and team members. The role requires participation as a member of the Team, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members, and attending appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, the individual will foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues and accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways to achieve synergy within the larger organization. The position requires familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understanding the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems and this position’s role in support of them, including considering the impact of individual actions and communicating concerns and improvement ideas. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.
