About The Position

The Gables of Fitchburg is seeking a passionate and dependable Line Chef to join our culinary team. We are building a restaurant-quality dining program within our assisted living community and are looking for individuals who take pride in preparing fresh, high-quality meals while making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents. Our kitchen provides service from 6:30 a.m. through 7:00 p.m. with a variety of scheduled shifts available, offering opportunities for both full-time and part-time employment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of professional line cooking or kitchen experience
  • A genuine passion for food and quality presentation
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a professional culinary team
  • Dependable, punctual, and committed to excellence
  • A strong understanding of kitchen sanitation, food safety, and cleanliness
  • Appreciation for maintaining a clean, organized, and professional kitchen at all times
  • Proven cooking experience, preferably in a healthcare or assisted living setting
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and protocols (ServSafe certification preferred)
  • Ability to prepare meals that meet dietary restrictions and resident preferences
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Positive attitude and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Desire and willingness to obtain ServSafe® Food Handler and ServSafe® Manager certifications, along with any other certifications that will help advance their culinary knowledge and career.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items according to recipes and production standards
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, and plating
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations
  • Assist with inventory, stocking, and kitchen closing procedures
  • Work closely with fellow chefs and dining staff to provide an exceptional dining experience for our residents
