About The Position

The Hiltons on Canyon, located in the heart of Boulder, offers a unique Colorado-inspired experience. We are seeking passionate individuals for our AM Line Cook / Food Assistant role, who enjoy working mornings and take pride in preparing quality food for our guests. Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education.
  • One to two years of full-time employment in a related position.
  • Knowledge of cooking and kitchen practices and procedures.
  • Ability to perform non-repetitive analytical work.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry boxes of food and meters weighing up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to hear equipment timers and communicate with other staff.
  • Ability to see that product is prepared properly.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present high-quality food for hotel guests, maintaining consistency, food safety standards, and proper sanitation practices.
  • Ensure proper service from the front line through quality control, training of line cooks, and ensuring proper sanitation levels.
  • Verify all items against recipe cards, ensure usage logs are followed for all items served, and that food is presented efficiently and with quality.
  • Oversee line setup prior to all food functions to ensure maximum efficiency during meal periods.
  • Supervise the maintenance of equipment and the kitchen's "clean as you go" policy to ensure strict compliance.
  • Prepare consistent quality food following recipe cards and production and portion standards, as servers.
  • Begin with foods that are prepped in advance, ensuring no more than estimated needs are prepared.
  • Date all food containers and rotate them per SOP, ensuring all perishables are kept at the proper temperature.
  • Check pars for shift usage, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line setup.
  • Note any out-of-stock items or potential shortages.
  • Assist in maintaining the buffet is stocked.
  • Return all unused food to designated storage areas, ensuring all perishables are covered/dated.
  • Assist in establishing plans and actions to correct any food cost problems; control waste, loss, and usage of food per SOP.
