About The Position

The Line Cook position at McMenamins Hillsdale involves a wide range of duties in both the kitchen and front of the house. Employees are expected to handle all tasks from opening to closing in a multi-tasking environment. This includes prepping, cooking, serving food and beverages, waiting on and bussing tables, operating a point of sale system, restocking supplies, checking IDs for alcohol purchases, dishwashing, general cleaning, and maintaining excellent customer relations. The role requires physical stamina, mental agility, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting. Teamwork and independent work are both essential. Employees must perform their job safely and report any safety concerns. Keeping current on company events, history, and products is also expected. Other duties may be assigned by the manager on duty.

Requirements

  • Obtain and maintain current food handlers and OLCC/WA liquor license
  • Ability to accurately handle cash and work with numbers
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills
  • A flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends and holidays required
  • Safely lift and carry heavy objects with a hand truck or the help of another person if necessary
  • Must have a value for diversity and the ability to work with individuals from different backgrounds
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a high volume, deadline oriented work environment
  • Work for long periods on feet including frequent walking, stair climbing and working outdoors in varied weather conditions as necessary
  • Perform repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, bending, some twisting and stooping
  • Perform fine hand manipulation including handling small and large objects, computer keyboard usage, writing, and use of kitchen equipment including knives and slicers
  • Ability to communicate clearly & be positive, polite, and cooperative with co-workers, managers, vendors, and customers
  • Work in & around a hot kitchen and various heat sources, including grills, broilers, and hot-oil fryers
  • Work with chemicals used in cleaning and sanitizing

  • Performing duties outside of normal responsibilities as needed
  • Keeping current on all company events, history, and products
  • Completing miscellaneous side work as directed by manager on duty
  • Filling in as a host as necessary
