About The Position

Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community offering top-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment. We are looking for a passionate and skilled Line Cook to join our team! The Line Cook is primarily responsible for the creation of food through accurate prep, adhere to standardized recipes, and focus on accuracy. They will meet quality and timeliness objectives, as well as being flexible and open-minded to changed requirements or environments. The Line Cook is someone who is professional in performance, behavior, and appearance. They will maintain resident confidentiality and will be courteous and cooperative with residents, families, co-workers, subordinates, supervisors, and other department staff. The Line Cook will practice Galloway Ridge Core Values: caring, empowerment, integrity, and commitment. This position will be 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm and will work every other weekend.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be ServSafe certified or able to gain certification. Must maintain all certifications necessary for employment.
  • Continually improving skills through educational opportunities. Will also maintain current knowledge of applicable federal, state, or other regulations.
  • Knowledge of food storage/food hierarchy and kitchen sanitation.
  • Reports safety hazards and injuries immediately. May also provide emergency assistance to residents, visitors, or employees while following proper procedures.
  • Exhibits professionalism in conduct and appearance. Is courteous and cooperative with residents, families, co-workers, management, and other staff.
  • Must perform simple arithmetic to handle and understand measurements and recipe conversions.
  • Needs proficient knife skills, knowledge of protein fabrication.
  • Cooking skills include frying, poaching, baking, roasting, stewing, braising, sautéing, grilling, and steaming.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food using cooking methods per standardized recipes with ability to adjust amounts depending on assignment and business needs.
  • Must work in a clean and sanitary manner with focus on station and equipment used.
  • Must participate in end of shift cleaning and sanitizing of the kitchen.
  • Put away deliveries and prep items according to FIFO method. Stock assigned station according to levels directed by Sous Chef.
  • Follow and reproduce plate presentation standards.
  • Follows instructions consistently.
  • Demonstrates professional development/skills competency in all activities.
  • Reports any potential safety hazards or injury immediately to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
  • Participates in all BOH training opportunities, in-services, and line-up sessions.
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work assignments and performs in a manner to meet quality and timeliness objectives.
  • Completes Relias training and maintains current ServSafe certification.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of federal state and other regulations applicable to the position.
  • Complies with applicable safety policies and procedures.
  • All other duties assigned include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.
