About The Position

Waterman Grille is seeking a Line Cook to join its team in Providence, Rhode Island. Located in an historic 1871 gatehouse overlooking the Seekonk River, the restaurant offers seasonal cooking focused on fresh, local ingredients and flavors from its wood-fired grill. Waterman Grille is part of Newport Restaurant Group, a 100% employee-owned company. The Line Cook prepares, seasons, and cooks soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food for customers. The role suits someone passionate about food, organized, able to work with urgency, and positive. Prior cooking experience is a plus but is not required; candidates must be willing to learn.

Requirements

Must have a flexible schedule to work days, nights, weekends, and some holidays as needed.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move 25–50 pounds.
Must collaborate using a team approach to help create an equitable workplace and maintain respectful working relationships.

Prior cooking experience is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes to prepare soups, salads, gravies, desserts, sauces, and casseroles.
Wash, peel, cut, and shred vegetables and fruits for use in food preparation.
Prepare meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods.
Prepare food products according to recipes, techniques, and procedures.
