About The Position

Line Cook – The Southern Gentleman Pay: Starting at $21/hour (based on experience) At The Southern Gentleman, we believe great food starts with great people. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of professional line cooking experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and proper sanitation practices.
  • Ability to work cleanly, efficiently, and with urgency during high-volume service.
  • Dependable, punctual, and accountable with a strong work ethic.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Pride in producing consistent, high-quality food every shift.
  • Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continue developing your culinary skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume, full-service or scratch kitchen preferred.
  • Passion for cooking with a commitment to producing high-quality food consistently.
  • Strong knife skills and understanding of fundamental cooking techniques.
  • Ability to read, understand, and accurately execute recipes and plating specifications.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and dependable work ethic.
  • Willingness to accept coaching, feedback, and continuously improve.
  • Must be punctual and maintain reliable attendance.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize during busy service periods.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time (8–10 hour shifts).
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in hot, fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute menu items to restaurant specifications with consistency and precision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked station.
  • Follow recipes, portion standards, and plating guidelines.
  • Assist with daily prep and station setup.
  • Practice proper food handling and sanitation at all times.
  • Support fellow team members to ensure smooth and efficient service.
  • Help maintain the high standards that define The Southern Gentleman.
