About The Position

The Lime Loader position is responsible for various tasks related to the loading of lime products into rail cars and trucks. This includes ensuring product quality, adhering to safety regulations, and performing physical tasks associated with loading and inspection. The role requires participation in safety meetings and training, and the ability to follow instructions and operate equipment safely.

Responsibilities

  • Checking rail cars and trucks for foreign materials
  • Loading trucks and rail cars with hydrated lime, quick lime, and by-products to legal weight
  • Observing, monitoring, and reporting any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity
  • Participating in safety meetings and training sessions
  • Inspecting work areas for safety hazards before beginning work activity
  • Climbing onto the top of rail cars, trucks, and/or loading platforms
  • Loading rail cars and trucks to proper weights
  • Using rail switches and assisting the loader operator to move rail cars between tracks during loading
  • Taking and recording tank measurements for inventory purposes
  • Performing rail car inspection and cleaning
  • Completing safety, health, and task training
  • Reading and using operator's manuals and filling out simple reports such as pre-shift inspection forms
  • Carrying out simple oral and written instructions and dealing with simple problems from standardized situations
  • Replacing or assisting other workers as needed
  • Performing other tasks as assigned by supervision or a designated lead person
