About The Position

This position is responsible for various tasks related to the loading of lime products onto rail cars and trucks. The role involves ensuring product quality, adhering to safety regulations, and performing physical labor. The employee will be part of Carmeuse North America, a leading global producer of lime and related products.

Requirements

  • Meet requirements for employment and the position.
  • Read & Use the operator’s manuals and fill out simple reports such as pre-shift inspection forms.
  • Carry out simple oral & written instructions & deal with simple problems from standardized situations.
  • Have knowledge of machine mechanics.
  • Know safety, environmental and other federal, state and local regulations needed for the job.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Checking rail cars and trucks for foreign materials.
  • Loading trucks and rail cars with hydrated lime, quick lime, and by-products to legal weight.
  • Observing, monitoring, and reporting any conditions that could lead to product nonconformity or other irregularity.
  • Participating in safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Inspecting work areas for safety hazards before beginning work activity.
  • Climbing onto the top of rail cars, trucks, and/or loading platforms.
  • Loading rail cars and trucks to proper weights.
  • Using rail switches and assisting the loader operator to move rail cars between tracks during loading.
  • Taking and recording tank measurements for inventory purposes.
  • Performing rail car inspection and cleaning.
  • Completing safety, health, and task training.
  • Meeting requirements for employment and the position.
  • Reading and using operator's manuals and filling out simple reports such as pre-shift inspection forms.
  • Carrying out simple oral and written instructions and dealing with simple problems from standardized situations.
  • Having knowledge of machine mechanics.
  • Knowing safety, environmental, and other federal, state, and local regulations needed for the job.
  • Safely completing other assigned training.
  • Safely meeting the supervisor's standards of performance.
  • Safely replacing or assisting other workers as needed.
  • Safely performing other tasks as assigned by supervision or a designated lead person.
