About The Position

EDAG is seeking a Lighting Design & Release Engineer to lead the engineering development and release of automotive lighting components, including headlamps, rear lamps, and auxiliary lamps. The role translates system and vehicle requirements into component specifications, interfaces, and design deliverables, and coordinates concept development, design maturation, supplier deliverables, tooling, and production release. The engineer manages integration of optical, mechanical, electrical, thermal, sealing, and styling requirements; develops and maintains DFMEAs; and supports validation planning and issue resolution. The role also coordinates testing and verification, supports vehicle builds, design reviews, regulatory-compliance activities, and production launch, and maintains product data and engineering release information in 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX). This is a six-month contract role based in Dearborn, Michigan, or Long Beach, California.

  • Experience developing and releasing automotive lighting components from concept through launch.
  • Working knowledge of 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX), DFMEA, and engineering change processes.
  • English proficiency at C1–C2 level.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of lighting optics, photometry, beam patterns, light-source technology, and lamp performance targets.
  • Knowledge of applicable vehicle lighting regulations and certification processes for target markets.
  • Knowledge of lamp packaging, styling interfaces, sealing, condensation, thermal management, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of electrical interfaces, wiring/connectors, diagnostics, and integration with vehicle controls.
  • Experience with validation planning, test-result review, supplier quality, and production-readiness activities.
