About The Position

The Light Tech III will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting gasoline and diesel-power equipment, and shop facility upkeep. This role may involve travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License
  • 10+ years automotive knowledge required
  • Must be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performed
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completion
  • Problem-solving skills with an analytical thought process
  • ASE A5 certified or be willing to obtain within three months of employment.
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission (EVTCC) or willing to obtain if required.
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilities.
  • May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching, and bending throughout the workday.

Nice To Haves

  • California Bar Smog License preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs automotive advanced skill level III, including preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical, ignition, fuel injection, charging, and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs inspection and repairs of exhaust systems, brake systems (master cylinder, rotors, and brake pads).
  • Performs inspection for suspension components, alignment, and tire replacement.
  • Repairs and replaces engines, cylinders, and transmissions for automotive gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
  • Performs Smog tests and repairs in accordance with California BAR specifications.
  • Performs troubleshooting and repairs for Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid, and Electric Vehicles (EV) models.
  • Repairs and replaces engines, cylinders, and transmissions on off-road gasoline-diesel powered equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces hydraulic and air systems, and completes installations of emergency lights and siren kits.
  • Performs quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repairs, and replaces tires, installs/replaces windshield wipers and light bulbs.
  • Performs jump-starts, parking, pick-up, and delivery of County vehicles to vendors or County facilities.
  • Performs on-the-road mobile equipment maintenance at any facility across Los Angeles County.
  • Picks up and delivers vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and vendors.
  • Road-tests vehicles on public streets and highways and drives to any of the five shop locations.
  • Ensures the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners.
  • Cleans, sweeps, mops, and removes trash from assigned work bays and shop common areas.
  • Abides by established safety standards and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Reports to various regional locations as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
