About The Position

The Supervisor, Light Rail Track Maintenance is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising repair persons involved in the inspection and maintenance of rail and its components. This role involves inspecting completed repair work to ensure rail safety, maintaining inspection records, and tracking project expenses. The incumbent directly supervises major track maintenance operations such as rail change outs, crosstie replacement, track lining and surfacing, and ballast cleaning. Additionally, the role involves advising the Superintendent, Maintenance of Way on equipment and material needs, operating track maintenance equipment, reviewing external repair and maintenance contracts, supervising contracted personnel, and performing other related duties. The incumbent is required to supervise personnel and delegate repairs to meet Federal, state of Maryland, and MTA standards. Employees in this class directly supervise "A" and "B" Repairmen.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certification
  • Three (3) years of experience repairing, installing, inspecting, and cleaning rail and related facilities
  • Possession of a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland
  • Must complete a Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) application (Form DTS-1)
  • Must include driving record with application
  • Must submit a CURRENT copy of their Complete Driving Record (NOT more than 30 days old), (NOT the 36 months driving record) available from MVA with their application

Responsibilities

  • Aiding in the review of external repair and maintenance contracts
  • Supervising the contracted personnel
  • Performing other related duties
  • Supervising personnel and delegate repairs to meet Federal, state of Maryland and MTA standards
  • Directly supervising "A" and "B" Repairmen
