About The Position

Responsible for machine operation and crew in a light industrial setting. Must manage machine team to ensure proper and safe operation of assigned equipment. Responsible for quality, output, and meeting production goals. The hourly pay for this role in the Pittsburgh Coop Mail location is $17.00. The pay range may be slightly lower or higher based on the geographic location of the hired employee. The actual pay offered may vary based upon, but not limited to: education, skills, experience, proficiency, performance, shift and location. In addition to base salary, depending on the role, the total compensation package may also include participation in a bonus, commission or incentive program.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 Years related experience
  • Basic computer experience
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Demonstrates ability to line lead or crew lead for one (1) machine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment (varying upon equipment).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communicator (share equipment knowledge, quality, and safety concerns).
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine problems.
  • Mathematical skills and advanced skills in production reports.
  • Basic computer skills, technical skills may vary based on the equipment.
  • Ability and knowledge to operate a pallet jack.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of machine and manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to speak and communicate effectively utilizing the English language (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Monitors performance of machine and personnel, ensuring goals are met and issues are communicated to Supervisor and/or Lead.
  • Completes all work assignments during production, including checking in material, pocket set-ups, and moving material offline.
  • Applies advanced troubleshooting skills and performs basic maintenance on assigned machines to improve quality and performance.
  • Assists crew members when needed.
  • Organizes crew activities and delegates assignments.
  • Performs assigned duties.
  • Trains and develops all crew members.
  • Monitors product quality for correctness and reports errors.
  • Monitors print and bundle quality and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitors product waste and takes steps to reduce or eliminate spoilage and doubles.
  • Maintains accurate record keeping (e.g., safety audits, packages per hour, labor hours per thousand) and other logs or forms.
  • Communicates personnel issues to the Supervisor or Lead.
  • Informs other Operators/Supervisors of pertinent information and communicates to other shifts as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Lead, coach and maintain open communication with other production team members.
  • Participate in the Team Business Meetings.
  • Work prioritization to meet production commitments and goals.
  • Machine staffing assignments.
  • Machine processing speed.
