About The Position

The Light & Motion Sensor Architect defines and delivers sensing solutions for laptops, enabling intelligent features such as auto-brightness, presence detection, wake-on-approach, orientation awareness, and power optimization. This role bridges sensor hardware, firmware, OS, and platform architecture to create reliable, low-power, user-centric experiences.

Requirements

Four-year or Graduate Degree in Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in sensor design and tools, software packages, architecture of system hardware, or a related field.

Responsibilities

Define sensor architecture for laptop platforms, including: Ambient light / color temperature sensors (ALS / CCT), Motion and presence sensing (IMU, human presence detection, IR/PIR, mmWave)
Translate UX and platform requirements into sensor specifications: Accuracy, latency, sampling rate, power, and thermal behavior
Architect always-on, ultra-low-power sensing pipelines
Define sensor placement and optical/mechanical constraints with ID and ME teams
Lead sensor fusion strategies (light + motion + proximity)
Drive interface and integration decisions: I²C / SPI, GPIO interrupts, EC integration, Windows / Linux / macOS sensor frameworks
Define calibration, factory trim, and field compensation strategies
Support bring-up, debug, validation, and mass production
Work with silicon vendors and ODM/OEM partners
Influence future laptop sensing roadmap and feature planning
