About The Position

The Lift Truck Operator (LTO) is responsible for receiving yarn, locating it into the warehouse, and ensuring its proper handling and storage. This role involves operating lift trucks to unload yarn trailers, manage inventory, and maintain the integrity of the product during transport and storage. The LTO also plays a role in identifying and reporting damaged goods and maintaining accurate receiving logs.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain yarn IPT from Yarn Clerks tray on univax.
  • Ability to use Shopflex system to enter trailer numbers and manage inventory.
  • Ability to operate a lift truck (LTO/Squeeze).
  • Ability to scan cases and location signs.
  • Ability to stack yarn boxes 4 high with 2 on top offset.
  • Ability to stack stretch wrap yarn with 36 cones, 3 high with 2 on top offset.
  • Ability to stack stretch wrap yarn with 48 cones, 2 high with 1 on top offset.
  • Ability to fill out the Damaged Trailer checklist sheet.
  • Ability to mark lot number, initials, case numbers, date, and location on cases.
  • Understanding of procedures to prevent damage or contamination to yarn.
  • Ability to make repairs to cases or repack damaged yarn.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment.

Responsibilities

  • Receive yarn by obtaining IPT from Yarn Clerks and entering trailer information into the Shopflex system.
  • Locate yarn into the warehouse by scanning cases and location signs, assigning locations to yarn lots.
  • Unload yarn trailers, ensuring proper handling to prevent damage or contamination.
  • Make repairs to cases before transporting and avoid dragging or sliding cases on the floor.
  • Repack stretched wrap yarn that cannot be repaired into boxes.
  • Stack yarn in straight rows with labels to the outside, following specific stacking guidelines for boxes and stretch wrap yarn.
  • Mark the lot number, initials of locator, number of cases, date, and location on a case at the end of each row.
  • Fill out the Damaged Trailer checklist sheet if damages are found on the trailer.
  • Notify the spotter to put damaged trailers out of service.
  • Notify the supervisor and lead of any damages.
  • Assist with unloading trailers if the clerk is busy or has a backlog, or if tufting needs yarn.
  • Operate lift trucks to transport yarn to warehouse locations.
