About The Position

The Lift Truck Operator (LTO) is responsible for receiving yarn, unloading yarn trailers, and locating yarn into the warehouse. This role involves accurately logging IPT information, ensuring proper handling of yarn to prevent damage, and maintaining organized warehouse storage. The LTO will also be responsible for identifying and reporting damaged trailers and their contents.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain yarn IPT from Yarn Clerks tray on univax.
  • Proficiency in using Shopflex system for inventory and receiving.
  • Ability to log IPT information on the Yarn Receiving Report.
  • Ability to coordinate with Shuttle Drivers (Spotters) for trailer unloading.
  • Ability to scan cases and location signs to locate yarn.
  • Ability to make repairs to cases before transporting.
  • Ability to stack yarn according to specified guidelines.
  • Ability to mark lot number, initials, case count, date, and location on cases.
  • Ability to fill out the Damaged Trailer checklist sheet.
  • Ability to notify appropriate personnel (spotter, supervisor, lead) of damages.

Responsibilities

  • Receive yarn by obtaining IPT from Yarn Clerks and logging information into Shopflex and the Yarn Receiving Report.
  • Unload yarn trailers by coordinating with Shuttle Drivers (Spotters) and ensuring trailer numbers are correctly assigned to dock locations.
  • Locate yarn into the warehouse by scanning cases and location signs, following assigned locations for each yarn lot.
  • Assist with unloading trailers if the clerk is busy or if there is a backlog, or if tufting requires yarn from a trailer.
  • Prevent damage or contamination to yarn during transport by making repairs to cases, avoiding dragging or sliding cases, and using caution during all movements.
  • Repack damaged yarn cases (stretched wrap) into boxes if they cannot be repaired.
  • Stack yarn in warehouse locations in straight rows with labels facing outwards, following specific stacking guidelines for different types of yarn packaging (boxes, stretch wrap with 36 cones, stretch wrap with 48 cones).
  • Mark the lot number, initials of locator, number of cases, date, and location on one case at the end of each row.
  • Complete the Damaged Trailer checklist sheet and notify the spotter, supervisor, and lead if damages are found on a trailer after unloading.
